WE ALREADY KNEW “LA BAJA” ITS HARD

From July 22 to 24, the 38th BAJA ESPAÑA ARAGÓN, valid for the Bajas Cross Country World Cup and third in the Spanish All-Terrain Rally Championship, was held in the City of Teruel. The race for excellence of our country and that nobody wants to miss. It lasts like no other due to its hot conditions and where it runs.

In an already known format of three days of competition, in which the first is dedicated to verifications and the last two to the competition itself, running a total of about 646 timed kilometers through the Aragonese mountains.

VM Competicion attended this test with two vehicles driven by Miguel Valero and Jaqueline Ricci, in the T4 category and Enrique Reyes together with Fina Roman in the T3 category, both competing in the FIA Cross Country Championship.

The problems began on Friday night when Enrique Reyes felt unwell and ended up in the emergency room, which prevented him from taking the Saturday start. First loss of the team, totally surprising.

Miguel Valero faced two stages of 180 and 222 kilometers respectively on Saturday, both separated by a 30-minute service. The problems for our driver appeared when he ran out of brakes, with which he lost a lot of time and fell to ninth in the category in the first stage. During the service time the breakdown was checked and he went out again to the second section recovering many positions, until the same breakdown was repeated; but this time it happened fewer kilometers from the finish and the time lost was less. At the end of the day they were in eighth position within the category in the World Championship, and third in the Spanish Championship.

On Sunday the second stage of Saturday was repeated and Miguel Valero went all out to make up for lost time, after a night of work on the car to solve the problems of the day; But the Baja is the Baja, and again the brake problems appeared. This time at the beginning of the stage, which the pilot had to solve with his own means, and which they held out until the end of the race allowing him to finish ninth in the category in the World Championship and third in the Spanish Championship, within the T4 category.
