SUCCESS IN THE NORTHERN FOREST BAJA RUSSIA FOR THE TEAM

The Northern Forest Baja Russia, the first round of the FIA Bajas Cross Country World Cup, was held on the weekend of February 10-13 near Saint Petersburg, in the Leningrad Region.

The only race in the specialty that is run entirely on snow and in sub-zero temperatures, and that was based on the Igora Drive Motorsport Circuit.

The team arrived several days before in the area to acclimatize to the weather conditions and fine-tune some cars that they had not yet tested.

The event began with the scrutineering that took place on Thursday afternoon, and the VM Competición team passed without any problems.

During the morning of Friday, the Special Classification test was held, of about 15 timed kilometers and which took place next to the circuit, to then proceed to the Start Ceremony and the Selection of the starting position of the following selective sections that they could choose top 10 ranked. Enrique Reyes finished third and Miguel Valero ninth in this first stage, showing off his piloting qualities.

On Saturday, two sections were covered that were repeated three times, totaling about two hundred and thirty-three kilometers against the clock, and with abundant snow. Miguel Valero and Jaqueline Ricci started with electronics problems and having to overtake several competitors, but they managed to maintain a good position for Sunday. Enrique Reyes and Jorge Saiz had more serious mechanical problems that slowed them down more than they should, but when the car worked the times took them to the top positions.

Two long sections of 121 and 94 kilometers each were run on Sunday, with the same snow conditions as the day before. Miguel Valero maintained their level and managed to arrive in eighth place overall and second in their T4 category; while Enrique Reyes, although they were able to recover time from the breakdowns the day before, only managed to reach twelfth position overall and eighth in their T3 category.
